COBRA CONNY-LAND
Switzerland’s first looping coaster finally opened this summer at Conny- Land in Lipperswil. After delays that lasted more than two seasons, the ride debuted to a fanfare of fireworks at the end of July. The boomerang- style coaster from Pax Design of Russia features 220-metres of track and one 18-seater train that travels at speeds of up to 85km/h as it travels along the ride’s spectacular profile, travelling outside the park gates and over the car park. Each ride lasts around 2 minutes and hourly capacity is 540. The complete project, including station/theming etc, represents an investment of 2.5 million Swiss francs ($2.5m/€1.9m).

EUROPE
MOTOGEE SÄRKÄNNIEMI
Europe’s first Moto Coaster from Zamperla opened this summer at Särkänniemi in Tampere, Finland. Featuring 364-metres of track, MotoGee launches riders 12 at a time from 0-60km/h in two seconds as they sit astride motorbike-themed ride vehicles. To promote the new ride, Särkänniemi embarked on a series of marketing initiatives with Yamaha. MotoGee replaces a Vekoma Whirlwind coaster and is the latest of several Zamperla rides at the park, where guests can also enjoy a Volare flying coaster, Disk ‘O’ coaster and Rockin’ Tug.
