METALCASTING SUPPLIES

Aluminum Melt Transfer Many aluminum metalcasters incorporate launder systems

for transferring molten metal. Apogee’s conductively heated trough (CT) relies on thermally conductive refractory panel sections impervious to metal attack through which heat transfer occurs by subsurface conduction and convection. Open launders result in temperature losses through radiation.

Heated covers are maintenance-intensive and relatively inef- ficient. Radiant heat transfer increases melt loss and thermal stratification. Apogee CT eliminates thermal stratification, and melt loss is negligible. Skimming is actually discouraged. Visit www.apogeetechinc.com for more information.

Casting Manipulators Henschel Andromat Inc.’s line of Andromat AMX manipu-

lators features ergonomics, robustness and high-precision geared for use in metalcasting facilities. The gripper arm has 360-degree rotation capability. The operator’s cabin provides a fresh, dust-free air supply. The manipulator line includes the AMX 20 for lower payloads, AMX 40 for medium pay- loads, AMX 60 for upper payloads and the new AMX 3000 for even heavier payloads. Visit www.andromat.com for more information.

Diecasting Safety Sign Danray Products

LLC recently released a new safety sign for diecasting machines. The sign addresses the main safety haz- ards created by mov- ing platens and dies on the equipment. The sign has been designed to comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.145 and the ANSI Z535 standards for the design, ap- plication and use of signs, colors and symbols for accident prevention. The adhesive sign is 8.75 x 10.5 in. Visit www.danrayproducts.com for more information.
