These 26 beautiful hand painted 1.30 min animations explore musical instruments from around the globe. Children of all cultures will enjoy the making of each instrument and the unique sounds each completed instrument makes. The Musicmaker instrument animations are designed to capture the children’s imagination for music and motivate them to explore their talent. The Musicmakers are unique for class discussions and teacher/parent/child edutainment interaction. The Dums is a family of 50 musicians who perform in 10 different ensembles: Brass Quartet, Pop Band, Brass Band, Percussion Band, Guitar Ensemble, Swing Band, Recorder Consort, Vocal Quartet , Orchestra, String Quartet . There are distinctive, animated characters, each with their own name and instrument. The Dums uses live recordings of the instruments and new compositions which have been commissioned especially for the software.
‐ LISTEN to the sounds that the instruments make and hear them being played individually and in an ensemble ‐ CONDUCT an ensemble to learn how the part of each instrument is layered to produce the overall sound. ‐ SEE a labelled picture of each instrument. ‐ READ detailed information about each of the instruments, including: How it is played, Which ensembles it is played in, Its historical and geographical background, Famous composers for and performers of the instrument
THE DUMS INTERNATIONAL Mac
Following the success of ESP's musical instrument CD, “The Dums”, this International version includes musical ensembles of : West African vocals , West African instrumental: Palm Wine and Goombay, Indian Raga, Australian, Andean, Bluegrass, Javanese Gamelan, Caribbean ‐ Steel Band, Macedonian – Roma. The ensembles feature unique compositions commissioned especially for the program and the recordings cover a wide range of musical instruments. There is full textual information and a labelled photograph about each instrument and ensemble, as well as opportunities to listen to the instruments and conduct the ensembles.
The program provides ideal curriculum support for both Music and ICT and cross‐curricular links for many international themes.
