PARKLIFE Wet World offers a winning formula Malaysian waterpark chain oozes family fun and entertainment

IN March 1973 a company was formed that has done much to transform the amusement and theme park industry in Malaysia. World Equipment Sdn Bhd began life by providing office

equipment and maintenance services for various Malaysian Government contracts and two years later ventured into the automobile refurbishing business. In 1980, the company began designing and building family fun centres and roller skating rinks throughout Malaysia, while in 1983, the country’s first amusement park, Taman Subang Ria Park, was designed and built. Today, World Equipment Sdn Bhd, part of the Only World

Group, is Malaysia’s leading pioneer in the amusement and recreation theme park industry with nearly four decades of experience behind it. The group’s core business involves major turnkey and contracted projects such as those at Genting Highlands Resort, Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa, Mines Wonderland, Desa Waterpark and Sunway Lagoon, while its other projects have included the design, build and management of the Wet World Waterpark chain. Through a series of rapid growth and entrepreneurial spirit,

Only World Group is today well diversified and accomplished in the leisure and F&B industries and is present in popular resorts and shopping malls throughout the country. The Wet World Waterparks were the brainchild of Dato’

Richard Koh, founder and Chairman of the Only World Group, and the chain consists of three venues – Wet World Shah Alam, Selangor; Wet World Batu Pahat Village Resort; and Wet World Air Panas, Pedas, Negeri Sembilan. The chain is

30

known as Malaysia’s largest water theme park chain, promising “an unforgettable, family-oriented, thrilling experience of fun and adventure!”

Wet World Shah Alam

Facing the scenic Shah Alam lake, the park is conveniently located in the Klang Valley, which helps to make it one of the most popular recreational spots in Selangor. Opened in 1996, the park was designed to be child friendly and the bright colours used throughout – red, blue, pink and yellow – help to provide a fun and exciting environment. Among the most popular attractions is the Monsoon Buster,

one of the longest uphill water coasters in Asia, which propels riders upwards in a raft for 200m using water jets to defy the laws of gravity. Both children and adults can enjoy the one minute experience. A Giant Slide offers fun for groups who can slide down

together, while faster challenges await in the Tunnel Water Coaster, an enclosed ride, and the Big Splash, a half enclosed and half open slide. Neptune’s Challenge consists of 10 floats for guests to walk across over a pool of water, while a bright yellow submarine is the central feature of a children’s activity area. Splash pools, waterfalls and a Lazy River are additional features, while other facilities include a fast food centre, gift shops and changing areas.

Wet World Batu Pahat Village Resort

The only waterpark in Johor, Wet World Batu Pahat Village Resort is built around the town’s Merdeka Lake and spreads over 44 acres.
