e hear all the time that real estate is in a slump. We can’t read a newspaper or watch television without being bombarded by negative news about foreclosures, short
sales and bankrupt developers. Discussing the situation with a large number of realtors, builders and developers has provided me with a different point of view, however, and has brought me to the realization that, in most cases, the mainstream media is interested only in gaining viewers or readers. Bad news apparently draws more attention than good news. Our clients span from South Florida to Nags Head, North Carolina, and their business is picking up. It is true that some of this business is in foreclosures and short sales, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. These properties have to be eliminated from the mix before real estate prices rise. Keep in mind that the people I’ve been talking with, professionals who advertise on our network of websites, are the movers and the shakers in real estate. They know their business. A client in Brevard County, Florida, recently listed a $1.65-million home that was featured in Carolina Homes

& Interiors. Within three weeks, she had a contract. Another realtor who advertises with the magazine on a regular basis listed a property from a lead she generated from one of our websites. It sold in less than 60 days, and it wasn’t a short sale or a foreclosure. It’s obvious that things are not as bad as the media would have you believe. Our front cover features the hottest property in Myrtle Beach: North Beach Plantation. From my vantage point,
it’s the most attractive property on the East Coast. North Beach Plantation has an interesting story, and its early chapters are all about timing. The developers have been building oceanfront condominiums in Myrtle Beach for decades, and they weren’t afraid to bring North Beach Plantation out of the ground while others were warning that the sky was falling. As a result, with the situation improving and prices adjusting, North Beach Plantation is leading the way toward a better day for the real estate industry. People are purchasing these fabulous seaside condominiums. You can read all about North Beach Plantation in Coastal Condo Living, which is printed in hard copy as well
as digitally. It is the print element of the Southeast’s largest network of websites. Covering North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, the Condo Living Network can be accessed at

For example, in this issue, you’ll find an article on Bill and Marianne Burke, Ohio residents who visited the Retirement Living Network and found their second home in Naples, Florida.
