SPDI News Practical tips for profit
RIP software specialist, ColorGate, offers a number of solutions dedicated to helping customers generate large format profit. Managing director, Thomas Kirschner, said: “With Productionserver 6 universal production RIP solution, we offer printing service providers ideal ways in which to sustainably improve their business productivity and profitability.”
With CG web to print, ColorGate offers a complete eCommerce system for the automated on-line processing of LFP products from posters to PVC and textile banners, right up to displays and framed canvas prints. This solution is coordinated with Productionserver 6 to provide excellent printing results and thanks to the JDF interface, the system is also compatible with other popular production backends. Ink Saver is ColorGate’s GCR technology for CMYK and light-colour half-tone printing systems, said to reduce ink costs by an average of 15 per cent while maintaining output quality. Ink Saver uses DeviceLink profiles to optimise the colour composition by reducing the CMY proportion in the motif and replacing it with a higher proportion of black.

Colour without the price tag
Epson and EFI have joined forces to provide UK LFP purchasers with a a special promotional price on selected products until 30 September, 2010. The offer allows buyers to save up to £1940 on an EFI Colorproof XF RIP when bought with either the Epson Stylus Pro 7900 or Stylus Pro 9900.
The 61cm Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and 111.8cm Stylus Pro 9900 utilise Epson's UltraChrome high dynamic range (HDR) inkset, which is key to the quality of the printers' output. This expands on Epson's UltraChrome K3 with vivid magenta inkset by adding orange and green inks. This increases the range of colours that can be achieved, especially bright green to yellow and yellow to red. The orange ink also contributes to smoother skin tones. Both printers offer speeds of up to 40m2/h with a resolution of up to 2,880dpi, and when accompanied by the EFI Colorproof XF RIP, provide enhanced colour accuracy and processing times, intelligent colour calibration and automatic colour optimisation.
