WHAT’S NEW Join the dots

M&R has expanded its i-Dot line of digital textile printers with the addition of the new i-Dot 2100. The printer is said to produce exceptional results on white and light garments with its i-Pak bulk ink system supporting a dual CMYK print engine for increased print speed and reduced ink costs. The system also features i-Color RIP software, capable of converting digital art files into printable images with maximum sharpness and colour accuracy. Absolute Position Technology (APT) gives great repeat registration with a servo amplifier, PLC controller, and an accurate servomotor-driven linear actuator.

This enables i-Dot to print multiple layers with layer-to-layer accuracy.

Water-based white makes the difference

Epson's Stylus Pro WT7900 inkjet printer with aqueous- based white ink and new metallic film is designed to produce vibrant display graphics for retail and point-of-sale applications. Originally developed for high- quality packaging proofing and sampling applications, the printer is ideal for display graphics where white ink plays an important role in the overall impact of high-end display, signage and POS graphics. Stylus Pro WT7900 prints high saturation Epson UltraChrome HDR ink on a choice of media, including clear films, paper and

the new metallic film, on rolls or cut sheets up to 609mm wide. The UltraChrome HDR ink set plus white not only produces a wide colour gamut and accurate spot colours but also enables unusual effects and finishes to be created on a variety of media. An opaque white base layer can be created on the material to produce greater saturation and vibrancy or the white can be used to generate pastel shades when blended with the printer’s existing colours.

Now available from William Smith, Contra Vision Performance window films are said to provide flexibility of choice for the production of see-through graphics, for internal or external window applications. There are material options suitable for digital inkjet, solvent, UV-cure and latex printing and for screen printing. All Contra Vision Performance perforated window films feature Grayliner technology, which is visible through the perforation holes and enables printers and end users to see a close approximation to the effect

of the applied graphics. This prevents the use of excessive amounts of ink that often occurs in order to compensate for the washed-out appearance of print on the standard white liner. It also avoids the rejection of finished print by end users due to the misperception of the graphics. As well as vehicle windows, Contra Vision Performance is ideal for retail and office windows and comes with three years’ exterior durability.
