CastExpo’10 Convenes in Orlando An MCDP Staff Report T
he global metalcasting industry was on display at CastExpo’10 and the 114th
Metalcasting Congress,
held March 20-23 at the Orange County Conven- tion Center in Orlando. This year, CastExpo’10 featured a new segment
geared toward casting designers and buyers, the Cast in North America (CINA) Pavilion. More than 40 metalcasting facilities showcased their capabilities for design engineers and purchasers in the forum. The pavilion was comple- mented by casting design and sourcing education in the Metalcasting Congress sessions. Cosponsored by the American Foundry Society (AFS) and
North American Die Casting Association (NADCA), CastEx- po’10 attracted 4,500 attendees and more than 300 companies showcasing their latest technology, research and services. Other sessions in the congress covered technical and management topics relevant to metalcasters, including diecasting, engineering, environmental, health and safety,
human resources, marketing, metals, molding and patterns. During the four-day event, several awards were given to in-
dustry members, including AFS’s highest honor, the Gold Medal, given to Sergio Gallo, retired from Teksid S.p.A., Torino, Italy. The 2010 Casting of the Year, sponsored by AFS and Metal
Casting Design & Purchasing magazine, was awarded to Dotson Iron Castings, Mankato, Minn., for its alternator/air conditioning bracket at the AFS President’s Luncheon and Annual Business Meeting.
