EUROPE’S LARGEST SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION EVENT RETURNS TO EARLS COURT FROM 26-28 FEBRUARY 2008, WITH MORE THAN 500 EXHIBITORS, 100 INFORMATION SESSIONS, 500 EXPERT SPEAKERS AND 20,000 VISITORS. WHETHER YOUR PRIMARY INTEREST IS IN WATER MANAGEMENT, RENEWABLE ENERGY, OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION, CLIMATE CHANGE OR ZERO CARBON, A VISIT TO ECOBUILD AIMS TO PROVIDE A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THESE AND MANY MORE THEMES.
With zero carbon legislation looming, Ecobuild’s Road to zero carbon attraction and the RuralZED house will be crowd-pullers and particularly interesting ones too. The Road to zero carbon will show a range of materials and systems which can be used to achieve lower carbon buildings. SIPs, timber frame, steel, masonry, insulated concrete form work and natural materials will be used to create 'real' elevations with cladding, superstructure and insulation combinations, and windows and doors in place.
Each of the 10 external wall elevations will tell their 'carbon story', providing technical information on the products and their performance against current and upcoming building regulations. Alongside the external walls will be an array of cladding and insulation choices. Visitors will be able to examine and compare examples of all the leading cladding and insulation options and to assess their thermal performance and effectiveness.
RuralZED, a consortium of architects and specialist manufacturers, will construct a fully functioning carbon neutral house at Ecobuild. The RuralZED house brings together the speed and quality of lightweight Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) at an affordable price. The flexible design and construction of the kit allows for detached, semi-detached or terraces of up to six homes, with variations on internal space and external appearance. Innovative design features aim to make the house both ecologically sound and desirable to live in.
