INDUSTRY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD With this special award the electrical industry shows its appreciation of someone’s lifetime contribution to its efforts and of her/his support for the independent sector.
Winner:
Bryan Lovewell, Chief Executive of retra
Bryan Lovewell who has devoted 45 years of his life to the electrical industry, began his relationship with the independent retail channel on the sales floor at the age of 16. Having worked for a number of small independent electrical retailers in London and the South East, he moved to Comet Radiovision Services as an area manager. After successfully managing and opening sixteen retail outlets for Comet in the South of England, he decided to change the course of his career and moved into electrical manufacturing, joining Belling Appliances Ltd based in Enfield, as southern divisional manager, responsible for four regions. He was soon promoted to the post of national accounts manager and finally to sales director for the entire UK market. He played a key part in growing Belling and establishing it as the number one cooking brand, increasing turnover threefold.
Following changes at Belling Appliances, he was appointed as the appeals & marketing director for the Electrical & Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA). In October 2007, Bryan was appointed chief executive of the Radio, Electrical & Television Retailers Association (RETRA)
Bryan Lovewell, chief executive of retra, has proved to be a very popular choice for the Industry Lifetime Achievement Award
Bryan Lovewell
where he continues to champion the independent electrical retail sector.
Supporting EEIBA As in the previous years, the Awards organisers have chosen the Electrical and Electronics Industry Benevolent Association (EEIBA) as the charity benefitting from the support of the event participants and sponsors. EEIBA’s constant efforts help the needy and distressed who work, or have worked, in the electrical and electronics industries. The manufacturers very generously supported the EEIBA raffle with a variety of attractive prizes.
Pat Sheldrake, EEIBA Fundraiser, conducted a lottery raffle which this year generated an impressive sum of £2,195.
