n September 27 & 28, Dragonfl y Yoga in Ft Walton Beach will be hosting a very special weekend with
Swami Jaya Devi Bhagavati. Swami Jaya Devi Bhagavati, E-RYT is the executive director of Kashi Atlanta, an urban ashram. In 2003 Swami Jaya Devi developed and conducted Kashi Atlanta’s Classi- cal Yoga Teacher Training, which has over the past seven years graduated over 230 Yoga Alliance RYT 200 certifi ed yoga instructors. Since 1992, Swami Jaya Devi has taught yoga all over the world, from international interfaith conferences to corpo- rations and hospitals to meditation centers and yoga studios. She developed and taught the fi rst Immune Yoga class in the city of Atlanta for people living with HIV and AIDS, teaching Grady Hospital Infectious Disease Clinic patients, doctors and nurses how to use yoga to work through their own personal struggles related to the illness.
She is also the initiator of Kashi Atlanta’s Street Meals Program, which pro-
vides over 20,000 meals each year to people living on the streets and in homeless shelters. Under the instruction of Swami Jaya Devi, Kashi teachers also go into the community, teaching yoga to people in local jails, senior centers, homeless shel- ters, parks and hospitals. Swami Jaya Devi is the author of the Classical Yoga Teachers Training Manual, and numerous articles about using yoga to create a deep, meaningful life. She has appeared on CNN, CBS, and PBS as an expert in using yoga to reduce stress and achieve a balanced, peaceful life. Shortly after 9-11, she was interviewed by National Public Radio (NPR) and was featured in the documentary fi lm “Imagine Peace” which explores how to create peace within oneself and one’s community in the midst of the chaos of the world. Kirtan, Meditation and Spiritual Teaching will be held Friday, August 27,
from 7-9:30pm. Cost is $25. On Saturday, August 28, Yoga will be offered from 10:30am-12:15pm ($25), with Kirtan, Meditation and Teaching from 1:30-4pm ($35).
