MARKET REPORT GARDEN & GROUNDS CARE continued

GroundsCare’s snow beater

GroundsCare Products believes that, if we should have a repeat of the severe weather that

gripped the country last winter, the new snowplough attachment for its Turf Teq implement carrier should prove a popular hire item. Measuring 1168mm wide, the steel blade has a replaceable rubbing strip and is spring-loaded to enable it to negotiate obstacles. The head can pivot 8° to the right or left, and it oscillates up and down by up to 6° to cope with uneven ground. The main tractor unit, which is powered by a 13hp Honda engine

with hydrostatic drive, will be displayed at Saltex, along with other attachments, including a power edger/trencher, surface preparation rake, power broom and brushcutter.

Hirers choose Hayter

Hayter reports continuing interest from hirers in the Toro Mid-Size rotary mower, which can operate at 7kph on rough meadows. The twin wheels and zero turn controls make it suitable for use on banks. The manufacturer recently launched the SP36 petrol driven

scarifier, which has 15 fixed cutting blades and is designed for de-thatching work on medium and large lawns. Power comes from a Briggs & Stratton Series 550 engine and the machine has a 360mm width of cut. A single-point hand wheel adjustment provides infinitely variable cutting height and the handlebars fold for storage. As the introductory article in our Market Report describes, local

authorities are increasingly hiring grounds care equipment to achieve benefits from fixing costs. Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council recently placed a substantial hire contract with Gibson’s Garden Machinery for over 100 Hayter machines, plus maintenance. Items being supplied include four Hayter LT324 triple mowers, seven Toro Mid-Size and 15 Hayter pedestrian mowers.
