On 10 June Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping Minister Louka Katseli announced that 22 investment projects worth €2 billion will be implemented through private-public part- nerships. The government is also taking steps to free up €4 billion worth of invest- ments, mainly in tourism and energy.

Speaking of a budget, Greece has been declared by the pop- ular travel site Skyscanner as the second most economical destination for Britons after Cy- prus, and is among the 30 most visited countries worldwide.
Greece retains its top holiday destination spot even if the calculations include the cost of airline tickets. Meanwhile, accord- ing to the Post Office World Travel survey, holiday costs in Greece receded by an av- erage of 11% at the beginning of this sum- mer.
Last but not least, for another year Greece features at the top of the list of countries with the highest quality beaches and ma- rinas. 421 beaches and nine marinas were awarded the Blue Flag by the respective International Jury. The prefectures of Las- ithi in eastern Crete, Halkidiki in north- ern Greece, and the islands of Corfu and Rhodes were awarded the highest number of Blue Flags.
