CHA 2010 Summer Show Aims to Lead Retail Revival

Education Program Promises to Ramp up Retail Business in the New Economy By: Tony Lee, Vice President, Meetings & Expositions at the Craft & Hobby Association

(June 4, 2010)

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ – Thousands of craft professionals are expected to converge on Rosemont this July for the premier craft industry event this summer – not only to source the latest innovations – but also take advantage of the education tools offered by the CHA. Widely hailed as the key business- building event of the season, the Summer Show Education Program attracts a wide cross-section of industry professionals, from local, independent retailers to international retail craft chains - all interested in gaining differential advantage to drive store traffic, increase store sales, and achieve retailing excellence to boost their bottom line in the coming year.

Spurred by changes in the economy that have created a more value-oriented and price-conscious consumer, this summer’s education lineup is tailor-made for those keen on conquering the leading retail challenges for the coming year. Seminars, workshops and networking events, will offer lessons and tools that retailers can immediately apply to their own businesses, to attract a younger buying demographic, simultaneously drive traffic to both online and brick and mortar stores, and attract the business of increasingly savvy customers, given today’s easy access to information over the Internet, and the growth of social networking sites.

“We’re pleased to offer, all Summer Show participants, industry-leading education opportunities they can immediately use to ramp up their businesses,” says Steve Berger, CEO, CHA. “Our comprehensive lineup of educational seminars, under the event’s ‘Retail Revival’ theme, promise not only

“Because of the knowledge I’ve gained from CHA’s fabulous education, I have built a solid foundation that has allowed me to achieve things that I never thought possible,” adds Vicki Schreiner, of Vicki Schreiner Designs.

Featuring education tracks, customized to meet the needs of all CHA members, from strategic retail promotion seminars, and hands-on craft technique training, to networking events with industry professionals across the nation.
