consumer thoughts about color:
“I have been looking to plant more purple this year. I like to offset the purples with brighter things like orange calendulas and white daisies.”

Create displays that feature colorful containers and pots with flowers or combination planters. Show how harmonious container colors enhance and showcase the blooms. Contrasting or complementary colored pots add real pizzazz and energy.

HOW SHOULD WE “SET OFF” OUR PLANTS?
using color & color accents
Color is one of the most powerful tools we have to really appeal to customers. But are you maximizing the impact? Are you using displays to show customers how color can create specific moods or atmospheres in their garden?
Here are a few questions I’m asked regularly by retailers.
Think about the big picture with accents — hoses, trowels and tools, gloves, furniture, trellises, etc. Paint a trellis or fence in a bright color that complements plants or dazzle with matching accessories. Customers will see the potential and surely pick up an extra item or two.

HOW CAN WE USE COLOR ACCENTS EFFECTIVELY?
Paint a picture with your displays. With any great art, the frame enhances the painting and reveals its true potential. Whether focusing on harmony or contrast, creating an artful display inspires customers to purchase flowers and the accessories that frame them.

HOW CAN THIS TRANSLATE TO MORE SALES?
By taking the guesswork and fear out of it for the customer, you are
halfway there. A creative and inspirational display—something the customer can aspire to—takes you the rest of the way to increasing sales.
Finally, as you see which displays resonate with customers and drive more sales, hone the skills of your team to create “spot on” displays time after time.
