Air Monitoring The First Portable “All-in-one” Micro Gas Chromatograph: “VEGA-GC” Gas Analyser


Pollution S.r.l. (Italy) is proud to present his revolutionary micro-GC. The goal was to obtain a real user friendly, portable and flexible instrument; Pollution succeeded realising a very light and small “all-in-one” analyser. The instrument is based on two changeable analytical modules including a µ-injector, a GC-column and a TCD µ-detector which allow to detect a large number of gas substances. The miniaturisation enables quick analysis and high sampling frequencies.


The VEGA-GC is able to carry out analysis on site in complete autonomy since it has already embedded: • Rechargeable and “hot-changing” batteries; • Disposable Carrier gas cylinder;


• Computer with touch-screen control and “MC-PLAN” (management software).


The software “MC-PLAN”, hearth of the system, is very friendly and realised thinking to the different levels of operators experience: • “User mode”: to select methods, start routine analysis and read the results;


• “Expert mode”: to prepare the analysis methods; • “Master mode”: for calibrations and technical configurations.


The software allows also to setup automatic and continuous monitoring, see the time graph of concentrations, calculate minimal, average and maximal values, get alarms for exceeding the desired set limits. Several communication ports allow to activate external events and alarms, to command our optional accessories like the “VEGA-MPS” (multipoint sampler) and “Concentrator” (to improve the sensibility to ppb), to communicate with other devices, to connect to the net for remote control.

Campbell Scientific (UK) announces the new version of their weather station software, VisualWeather 3.0. VisualWeather provides software support for various Campbell Scientific weather stations, including the ET107, ET106, and MetData1 preconfigured weather stations, as well as custom weather stations. The software allows you to set up the station, interrogate the station, display data, and generate reports from one or more weather stations.


VisualWeather 3.0 integrates many enhancements from the previous version. These include support for the ET107 and Toro T107, enhanced station-status and station-data screens, as well as improved web output and FTP support. Changes have been made to the underlying database to allow faster report generation. VisualWeather now includes a global-units option, which controls output units for reports and station data screens, and it can now display the user interface component text in an alternate language if a separate VisualWeather language package has been installed.

SRI stands for Switchable Reagent Ions and describes a new feature where instead of the single precursor ion (H3O+


MS systems also NO+ and O2+ constituents in gas samples.


The benefits are extraordinary as not only isomeric VOC compounds can be separated and instantaneously quantified (the separation of isobaric compounds is already possible by using the IONICON HRS PTR-TOF-MS) but also substances with a smaller proton


affinity (PA) than the PA of H2O can now be detected with help of SRI techniques.


Unlike many other technologies the Ionicon (Austria) PTR+SRI-MS instruments provide ultra-low detection limits in the single-digit pptv- range (reaching now even the ppqv detection regime) and very high sensitivity.


PTR+SRI-MS technology is now available with most IONICON products as an option or as upgrade for your existing PTR-MS instrument.
