OPP INDUSTRY AWARD PROFILE: A Place in the Sun | 51 Developer profi le

the industry who give free-to-attend, targeted, independent presentations to help visitors defi ne their path to overseas property ownership.”

The Emigration Show An interesting development at APITS Live in recent years has been “The Emigration Show,” which is a sort of show within a show located around its own dedicated seminar theatre where 5 presentations take place each day to a maximum audience of 80. The organisers say that The Emigration Show “looks at emigrating to parts of the world popular with the British market such as Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada ... and offers companies providing services such as visas, removals, travel, healthcare, schooling, tax and legal advice, the opportunity to meet people who are looking to make a permanent move

“Providing services for people looking to make a permanent move abroad proved very popular ”

abroad.” It has proved to be a very popular move. All in all, APITS Live has done

well in tough times and is proud to boast that it attracts exhibitors from 40 countries around the world and covers sectors such as car rental, travel (including travel agents, airlines, ferry services), emigration (visas/permits), removals, government, insurance, healthcare, language services, lettings, fi nance, cultural learning, legal, tax, relocation, media (including web, paper, TV), fi tness, relaxation and food. And in another interesting twist

for 2009, APITS decided to co-locate the event with the EDF Energy Ideal Home Show and try to encourage the two different audiences to take a look at the other show. The organisers found that the two shows shared similar visitor demographics. The deal allowed visitors to purchase a ticket to one show and gain access to the other free of charge. The end result was a staggering 3,000 extra visitors to APITS. Who says that exhibition organisers are not switched on?
