The Teachers’ Guide

The Teachers’ Guide helps all members of school and college staff to learn about working with employers and to understand the benefits of doing so. The Teachers’ Guide provides: • A one-stop-shop for help with working with employers.

• Guidance that is suitable for all educational establishments.

14 to 19 reform guidance

Government guidance is available and includes several useful documents for employer engagement,

such as Employer Engagement: A Guide for

Consortia, a work-related learning guide for 14 to 19-year-olds, and the quality standards for work experience. There is also an employer engagement self-assessment toolkit, which contains a comprehensive set of measures for consortia to consider. This information is expected to be updated

on the new Department for Education website in due course. Visit: www.education.gov.uk

Education Business Partnership Organisations (EBPOs)

EBPOs exist to help education make and sustain links with local and national business. To find your nearest EBPO, go to the Institute for Education Business Excellence website below and navigate to ‘Organisations’ and then ‘EBPO Directories’. Visit: www.iebe.org.uk

STEMNET

STEMNET creates opportunities to inspire young people in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. To achieve this, STEMNET works with thousands of employers and schools through programmes such as STEM Ambassadors and the STEM Clubs Network. STEMNET provides experiences that go far beyond the classroom – unlocking potential and inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, technologists and mathematicians. Business in Schools initiative

An online resource which ‘match-makes’ between schools/colleges and businesses wishing to help them. You can specifically request Diploma support, or include other areas such as mentoring, classroom talks, and support for STEM subjects. Visit: www.businessinschools.co.uk
