BSC HONS MIDWIFERY - 18 MONTH COURSE
The Midwifery degree (BSc Honours) – Short Programme is a qualification that tops up your existing nursing qualification over an 18 month period, leading to professional status as a Registered Midwife. With study based at our Archway campus in London and placements with our NHS Trust partners, this course will provide you with the theoretical and practical experience needed to fulfil this role in a modern health service.
The Midwifery degree provides both professional registration and an excellent start to a well paid career with professional status and great prospects. Midwives are the lead health professional for many women and babies with uncomplicated pregnancies, from the initial visit confirming the pregnancy through to the 28th day following the birth of their babies. It’s demanding work, but you’ll experience immense satisfaction from working as a team to provide seamless care to people in need.
Your study for the Midwifery degree (BSc Honours) is funded by the NHS; therefore your University fees are paid; you have a temporary paid contract with the Trust where you will be undertaking your clinical experience for the 18 month period of the course.
The 18 month programme of study consists of the following modules: MWY 2401 Fundamentals in Midwifery MWY 2408 Midwifery Practice MWY 3402 Challenges in Midwifery Theory and Practice MWY 3408 Midwifery Practice MWY 3330 Dissertation
Placements are an integral part of your training and are scheduled throughout the course. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must be on the NMC Register as a nurse level 1 (Adult Branch)
Minimum of 70 relevant and appropriate academic credits at level 2 or above.
