After surgery or radiation treatment, PSA levels usually fall to low levels. If your PSA rises after treatment, it could mean the cancer has come back.
During hormone therapy or chemotherapy, PSA levels can tell you how well the treatment is working and when it may be time to try another option.
Remember, some people have high PSA levels and feel fine. Other people have low levels but have symptoms. Your doctor will pay more attention to how your PSA levels are changing than to how high or low your numbers may be.
