Treating Prostate Cancer

Another Treatment Option: Immunotherapy

The FDA has approved a different treatment option for advanced stage prostate cancer. Here’s how it works: You undergo a procedure at a blood center to collect a small portion of your immune cells. The collected immune cells are combined with a protein that targets prostate cancer. Then, these immune cells are put back in your body to help fight your cancer cells. This process is repeated three times. Talk to your doctor to learn more.

PSA During Treatment

PSA testing can be used to help see how certain treatments are working.

If you’re treating your cancer with watchful waiting, your doctor will regularly check your PSA. If your cancer starts to spread, more PSA will be found in your blood and a more aggressive treatment might be needed.
