Sun Virtualization: Solaris 10 Logical Domains Administration

Classroom Length: 2 Days

Sun Microsystems Logical Domains, or LDoms, technology is part of a suite of methodologies for consolidation and resource management that includes Sun Fire Dynamic System Domains and Solaris OS Containers. This technology allows you to allocate a systems various resources, such as memory, CPUs, and devices, into logical groupings and create multiple, discrete systems, each with their own operating system, resources, and identity within a single computer system. The emphasis of this course is on providing practical LDom planning, configuration, and administration experience, while also covering the underlying technologies and best practices. This course features the Solaris 10 OS and LDoms management software. The students perform the course lab exercises using LDoms supported servers.

Sun Virtualization: Solaris 10 Containers Administration

Classroom Length: 3 Days

The Solaris 10 Containers Administration course offers a practical, guided experience working with Solaris Containers, the Sun virtualization feature comprised of Solaris Zones and Solaris Resource Controls. Containers are used to create isolated environments for running applications, and enable server consolidation with low overhead. In this course, you gain the knowledge critical to properly implement and manage these important capabilities in the Solaris Operating System. The hands-on labs offered in this course involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.

Solaris System Performance Management

Classroom Length: 5 Days

The Solaris System Performance Management course introduces students to performance tuning principles, monitoring utilities and tuning tools for the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS). The presentation includes a review of Solaris subsystems and the utilities provided to monitor system efficiency including sar, vmstat, iostat, netstat, mpstat, nfsstat. This revision also presents tools new to Solaris 10, including DTrace, alongside these well known utilities. The course format isolates each major system component that affects system performance data. Case studies are used to illustrate how performance bottlenecks can be isolated, confirmed through analysis, and resolved through making adjustments to the system configuration. The Central Processing Units (CPUs), memory, and input/output (I/O) systems are reviewed to clarify standard techniques for monitoring each one. Monitoring and tuning virtual memory operations, ZFS and UFS file systems, and network efficiency are discussed as well. The course concludes with a more general examination of the full cycle of identifying and resolving performance impediments. The Solaris System Performance Management course includes lab exercises to reinforce skills development.

Configuring Security on the Solaris 10 Operating System

Classroom Length: 5 Days

The Configuring Security on the Solaris 10 Operating System course provides students with the knowledge and skills to customize security on Solaris 10 systems.

Solaris Trusted Extensions Installation, Configuration and Administration

Classroom Length: 5 Days

Solaris Trusted Extensions Installation, Configuration and Administration will provide you with the knowledge to enable, configure, and administer Solaris Trusted Extensions software on a system, running the Solaris 10 Operating System. The course will teach you teaches students how to: • Design and configure Trusted Extensions security label mechanisms • Use extended security features of the two graphical desktops, Trusted JDS, and Trusted CDE • Compartmentalize system administrator powers through the use of the following Solaris features:

• - Roles with Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) • - Privileges • - Authorizations • - Restrict the capabilities of the users. The course focuses on additional features, which enhance system security such as auditing, controlling access to removable media devices, managing local and remote file systems, configuring labeled networking and labeled printing, setting up LDAP on Trusted Extensions, and migrating from Trusted Solaris 8 to Solaris Trusted Extensions.

Solaris Operating System Network Intrusion Detection

Classroom

System Administration

SC-345

Length: 5 Days

The Solaris Operating System Network Intrusion Detection course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the advanced administration skills required to firewall, monitor, log, identify and respond to network security breaches.

Enterprise Security Using Kerberos and LDAP

Classroom Length: 5 Days

The Enterprise Security Using Kerberos course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to deploy Kerberos in the enterprise and to secure enterprise deployments of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

Enterprise Intrusion Analysis

Classroom Length: 5 Days

The Enterprise Intrusion Analysis course provides students with the skills needed to discover and analyze enterprise intrusions in a UNIX environment.

Computer Security Forensics and System Recovery

Classroom Length: 4 Days

The Computer Security Forensics & System Recovery course provides industry professionals with the knowledge and advanced technical skills necessary to perform a forensic investigation on Solaris 9 Operating Systems (Solaris 9 OS). This course equips students with the data collection, data preservation, and analytical skills necessary to investigate potentially compromised systems, knowledge of common attacks, and preparation for working with a legal investigation. System recovery and hardening is covered from the perspective of the role of the systems administrator in enabling the site to resume operations in a potentially hostile environment. The primary focus of this course is technical analysis, but it peripherally includes general aspects of legal procedure not specific to any particular jurisdiction, but following industry best-practices. This includes appropriate evidence-gathering techniques, securing an incident scene, maintaining chain of custody, documentation of forensic analysis, and preparation to respond to security intrusions in adherence to local incident response policies and procedures. Recent legislation in the United States, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act (HIPAA), and Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, mandates internet technology (IT) security control policies and procedures take legal issues into account for certain industries. This can affect how a forensic investigation proceeds by requiring that law enforcement be informed of certain security breaches. This course includes real-world exercises that provide hands-on experience in computer forensic analysis.
