Ornate Pine Needle Basketry 846

Learn how to coil a beautiful basket around an unusual stone center. Use this easy method
to start a basket and you’ll soon find yourself looking for exciting things to use for your center
such as brooches, pendants, etc. Learn to coil so the stitches are identical on both sides
of the basket. Pine needles and waxed thread will be provided, but you can use the coiling
technique to weave almost any plant in your yard including lavender, dusty miller, rosemary
and others. This class is suitable for beginners to experienced basket makers. Materials fee
$26 (cash) to be paid to instructor in class. Bring a sack lunch. 1 day

Silk Painting 860

Indulge your creative sensibilities! Learn the basics of painting on sensuous silk to create
scarves, cards, jewelry, paintings, and more. Teacher provides handouts with instructions
and patterns for planning designs, segmentation of a large area, stretching and framing a silk
painting. Students will complete one to three projects during the ten week course. Bring an
apron or old shirt to cover your clothing, rubber gloves, and an old ice tray or small containers
for mixing dyes. Materials fee of $29 payable to instructor first class meeting. 10 wks
Artistic Vegetable Carving 867

In this hands-on class students learn how to carve melons and vegetables into beautiful table
centerpieces. The international award winning instructor will demonstrate carving a variety of
items. Students should bring 3 small fruits and / or vegetables such as melons and squash.
Teachers provides carving knives for students to use. 1 class
Enrichment classes have higher fees since
they are not supported with tax dollars.
