Block Masonry–Basic

Course provides entry-level training in masonry occupations and basic skills for construction
trades. Classroom and lab setting instruction covers safety, use of hand and power tools, block
ROP
cutters, cement mixers, blueprint reading, measurement and estimating. Students work on
several projects designed to increase manipulative skills with brick and block. Approximately
360 hours are needed to complete this course. This class is approved by the Department
of Apprenticeship Standards for the State of California. Important note: A registration
processing fee of $50 is to be paid at the time of registration. (No fee for high school
students).

Mason Tenders are professionally skilled laborers that assist masons/bricklayers. Learn
to differentiate between types of brick, block and stone, estimate quantity, quickly set up
scaffolds, drive and operate essential tools, such as cutting saws and cement mixers,
distribute materials efficiently, set up and temper cements, arrange and organize material
for safety and production value. Class is approved by the State of California, Department of
Apprenticeship Standards. Important note: A registration processing fee of $50 is to be
paid at the time of registration. (No fee for high school students).

This course provides entry-level upgrade, and advanced training in computer applications. Prepare for
office occupations such as administrative assistant, general office clerk, data entry specialist and more.
Instruction includes Microsoft Office 2007: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access, keyboarding, data
entry, business English and math, 10-key calculator and filing. Job search strategies are included in
this course. Days/hours can be arranged with the instructor between 8:30 a m and 3:00 p m .
