Pharmacy Technician Training Program

The need for pharmacy technicians is expected to grow 21-35 percent through 2012
according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist DUCA
with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the
pharmacist for counseling assistance, inventory control and purchasing, collecting payments,

and coordinating billing. The course combines182 hours of classroom instruction with a 120
hour pharmacy externship. The course fee is $2420 which includes books, consumable
supplies, externship and course completion certificate. High school diploma required
to enroll in this program.

This course provides initial exposure and entry-level training in the basic terminology,
academic requirements, and interpersonal skills necessary for the health care industry.
Instruction includes communication skills, socio-economics, safety and health maintenance,
body structure and function, ethical and legal responsibilities, and employment literacy
including computer, math and English skills. Approximately 90 hours are needed to complete
this course. This course is a prerequisite for the Medical Assistant program. There is
no tuition fee for this class due to a special grant through the San Diego Workforce

Home Health Aide for Certified Nurse Assistants 060206

Starting pay $12-$20 per hr
This class is for CNAs wanting to get their home health aide state certification in order to
work with hospice agencies. Topics to be covered include occupational knowledge skills,
introduction to aide and agency role, interpretation of medical and social needs of clients,
personal care service, food services, cleaning tasks. This course consists of 20 hours theory
and 20 hours of clinical. Prerequisites: copy of your current CNA card, and proof of a
physical exam and a TB clearance.
