Managing director Roman Rock, said: ‘Unlike many other firms that are suffering the full brunt of the recession, I’m happy to report that, so far this year, our bookings are well up on last year’s figures. And I know, from feedback we’ve received from booking parties, that they’ve been attracted by the new theme-park games we’ve introduced to our sites.’
Mr Rock believes that his firm’s determination to succeed kept the business afloat during the previous recession. He said: ‘We kept running the business, kept pushing and kept marketing.
‘Our marketing projects are measured - we know exact costs and what the conversion rates are so we can determine how successful each campaign is.
‘People are still looking for escapism and there is a bit more money in their pockets because of interest rates coming down and VAT being cut.’ Bedlam attracts over 20,000 paintball players a year, including HRH Prince William and many Scottish Premier League football teams. The company, which employs 12 full-time and 40 part-time staff, said analysis of bookings showed paintballing was popular with corporate team building, birthdays or people just looking for a fun day out.
Their latest extreme game, the Stagecoach Stand- off, features two double-decker buses and puts players’ agility, tactics and communication to the test in a paintball battle before they navigate through a speedball arena.
