BOOST FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS

THE NUMBER OF WOMEN IN SCOTLAND STARTING THEIR OWN BUSINESSES HAS DECREASED FOR THE FOURTH YEAR RUNNING. RESEARCH BY BUSINESS GATEWAY HAS FOUND THAT 38% OF START-UPS WERE LAUNCHED BY WOMEN IN 2008/09, COMPARED TO 39% IN 2007/08.

Glasgow-based Picsel Technologies filed a lawsuit claiming Apple used ‘a key component’ from one of its inventions. The technology allows users to scan through on-screen content without experiencing delays.

Picsel wants compensation for the units already sold, unspecified damages and patent damages.
