The Route to becoming a Chartered Marketer
The achievement of Chartered status is an international recognition that the holder has achieved and maintains
an ability to practice marketing at the highest level. As with Chartered status in other industries, over the next
decade that Chartered Marketer status will come to be a requirement for those holding the top marketing posts in
corporations and institutions.
tHERE ARE tHREE RoutEs to bEcoMing cHARtERED:
ciM cHARtERED DiPLoMA PRogRAMME
This is a 3 year course in two stages. The first stage of the Professional Postgraduate Diploma is a 4 module Diploma
course similar to the CIM Professional Diploma but at a higher level and partially work based. The Second Stage is an
18 month practical research project and dissertation.
tHE PostgRADuAtE DiPLoMA AnD continuAL PRofEssionAL DEvELoPMEnt
For those with the Postgraduate Diploma, Chartered Status can be achieved through collecting CPD points.
tHE cAMbRiDgE cHARtERED MARkEtER PRogRAMME
This Programme is more practically based and designed to fit in with experiential learning styles and is explained
more fully on page 26.
