INDY YARN PROFILE:
ipples Crafts was started by Helen
R
Lockhart in 2008 after many years
of plotting and planning. She began
selling her beautiful range of hand-
dyed yarns from her blog at
www.tncat.co.uk/
dropone and soon progressed to opening an
online shop full of glorious colour at
www.ripplescrafts.co.uk.
Opening Ripples Crafts co-incided nicely with a
change in Helen's personal situation when she and
her husband decided to move to their beautiful home
full time, instead of just visiting it in the holiday
periods. The generous and kind-hearted community
in Helen's town is a big help to her, the locals have
a wonderful attitude to life and she has received
nothing but encouragement from her neighbours,
friends and family.
Stunning Scenery and
inspirational views
Helen's colours are evocative of the stunning area
of North West Scotland in which she now lives
and works full time. Surrounded by such amazing
scenery it is no wonder that her colourways are bold
and passionate. A lifelong knitter, Helen has been
inspired by the many wonderful crochet projects her
customers are making with her yarns and some of the
beautiful crocheted garments that are out there, and is
getting the urge to pick up her crochet hooks again.
The ripple effect that runs through the crafting
world where fellow knitters and crocheters are
always willing to help enough other out and spread
the word of new patterns, books, colours and yarns
was the inspiration behind the name of Helen's
company. The great attitude of thoughtfulness and
kindness that is shown to everyone who shares the
love of yarn and fi bre is one that leads to many
unexpected gifts being sent, Helen has a lot of her
