Father Joe’s Villages
Dear Neighbor, Summer is the time of year when most of us can kick off our
shoes and relax a bit. Sadly, that’s not the case at Father Joe’s Villages. In fact, we’ve had a rough year: Our organization has had to lay off numerous employees and we’ve seen cutbacks in many programs. At Martha’s Village & Kitchen, we were forced to close our emergency shelter for lack of funds. The economic downturn has affected those we serve and now
it’s affecting us. And it hurts. We stay afl oat thanks to our friends. Your support makes it possible for us to furnish 4,500 meals every day to our residents and those living on the streets. It enables us to protect families from homelessness and to shelter abandoned teens and people living with HIV/AIDS. It allows scores of women and men to graduate from our Bridges to Independence program with certifi cates in sobriety, wellness, computer profi ciency, culinary arts, budgeting, and more. And it gives us the means to provide affordable housing to individuals who desperately need it. Despite our current challenges, we’re still the largest homeless rehabilitation program in San Diego and Riverside Counties. But we didn’t achieve that status on our own; you helped us get there. Thanks to you, our Villages assist more than 4,000 neighbors each day. And if my prayers are any indication, we’ll have the honor of providing our services in your name for many years to come.
God bless,
Father Joe’s Villages provides support services for all the agency’s partner Villages. Services include but are not limited to food service, security, maintenance, property acquisition and development, human resources, accounting, information technology, grant writing, fundraising, creative/communications and general management.
