The new generation online magazines are even easier
to use and have unique functionality. The provision to
click through to authors’ and advertisers’ email
addresses and websites has been added and we urge
you to have a look and experience interactive publish-
ing at its very best.
Another great feature of the online magazines is that
they are all fully searchable. Type in a name or phrase
and a comprehensive click-through list will appear. On
clicking through the searched-for material will appear
in green - this attention to detail sounds a little obvious
but look elsewhere and you will realise that it actually
makes the whole searching experience much more user
friendly.
Our Archives feature our entire back catalogue of
magazines and all 480 fully searchable articles. If you
want to update your knowledge of, say the licence plate
recognition field, or find out what South Africa’s plans
for infrastructure investment have been for the past cou-
ple of years, then this is the perfect reference source for
you.
Invaluable Source
To the Thinking Highways stable, we are also very
pleased to welcome IVSource. For over 10 years Richard
Bishop has produced his indispensable intelligent vehi-
cle news service by himself but it’s now available to view
on our new site and over the next few weeks it will
undergo a makeover (not an extreme one) and new ele-
ments will be added to it to make it even more of an
imperative read than it is already.
May 2009 will see the launch of our first online-only
title, Footprint - Green Transportation Developments &
Initiatives. Taking its lead from H3B Media’s May 2008
Transportation and Climate Change Think Tank held at
the University of Massachussets, Footprint will be edited
by Amy Zuckerman and will look at subjects such as sus-
tainability, energy efficiency, emissions, policy, alterna-
tive fuels, green ITS, climate change and so on. Transport
has shaped our environment over the last 100 years, for
better or worse and this publication will tackle the
potentially thorny subject head-on.
Another potentially exciting venture is the launch of
our podcst,The Thinking Highways Half-Hour. The first
show will be downloadable from the website by the time
this issue hits your desk and will feature regular guest
spots, news, interviews and a look into the lives of some
of the sector’s best-known figures. Presented by Kevin
Borras and Gary Bridgeman, the debut show’s themes
are how ITS is reported in the mainstream press and
electronic horizon enhancement. Transport Logic Ltd’s
Mike Hayward joins us in the studio to discuss those top-
