eteran newsman Dominic Carter has been described as the best political
reporter working in New York television today. He is the first TV
journalist in the country to interview Carolyn Kennedy regarding her interest
in the U.S Senate. A fixture at NY1 since the channel launched in 1992, Carter
has made guest appearances on national talk shows including Face the Nation
and Hardball with Chris Matthews. He released No Momma’s Boy, a book about
his triumphant struggle to overcome his mother’s mental illness while he was
growing up. A proud son of the Bronx, he grew up on Burnside Avenue near
Bronx Community College.
As the host of NY1’s Road to City Hall, Carter has interviewed every
major political player in the state and many national and international leaders.
He covered Barack Obama’s historic road to victory and followed him during
three critical battleground states.
Carter’s exclusive interviews include former President Bill Clinton, the
late John Cardinal O’Conner, Nelson Mandela, and the parents of Amadou
Diallo. He has reported extensively from abroad, including Japan, Israel,
Somalia, and the Persian Gulf.
Carter has appeared on the cover of The New York Times and TV
Guide. And he was honored by the McDonald’s food chain in a photo
campaign. He received a B.A. in journalism from the State University of New
York at Cortland and attended graduate school at Syracuse University. He has
received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from The City University of New
York.
