+++Regional roundup – Vitalise Skylarks
++Skylarks gets superb makeover
A newly spruced up and sparkling Vitalise Skylarks opened its doors in February to a hugely popular Alzheimer’s Week. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of long-time supporter June Lawrie, staff were able to give the Centre a really attractive makeover. The approving guests relaxed in the new armchairs and enjoyed the new large screen TV in the lounge, as well as the stylish re-floored restaurant, where the exciting new menus created by Head Chef Martin were voted a resounding success. Happy guest Alec Bingham, remarked: “Skylarks looks so much brighter and fresher now. The decoration is very good and the new furniture is much appreciated. The television is marvellous - everyone can see it. The food has always been good here - now it’s even better!”
++Secret millionaire
A TV celebrity dropped into Vitalise Skylarks in December. Hilary Devey, the current Vitalise Woman of the Year, was one of the millionaires featured on the popular TV show Secret Millionaire last year. Hilary joined Centre Manager Ann Coxall and Chief Executive Jonathan Powell for lunch before taking a guided tour of the Centre to meet staff and guests, including Sharon Tomlinson. We hope Hilary will visit us again soon.
++No pressure
Guests will be able to enjoy the benefits of a new pressure-relieving mattress at Vitalise Skylarks, thanks to a kind donation of £1,000 from local company DSL Systems.
++Accountants count
Many thanks to The Nottingham Chartered Accountants Student Society (NCASS), who showed their support for Vitalise Skylarks by donating £500, the proceeds from a raffle at their summer ball, to the Centre. NCASS member Natalie Moore, who works for Deloitte and Touche, presented the cheque to grateful staff.
++Cantonese evening
Around 120 supporters enjoyed a sumptuous Cantonese banquet in aid of Vitalise Skylarks at the Pearl restaurant in West Bridgford in November. Special guests and long- term supporters Ken and Gillian Clarke came along to this regular fundraising event for the Centre. Thanks to Basil Nicholls for his help in making the evening such a success.
