+++Regional roundup – Vitalise Jubilee Lodge

++Wii!

Guests at Jubilee Lodge can now improve their hand-eye coordination and motor skills - and have fun at the same time - thanks to the latest addition to the Centre’s range of in-house activities, a brand new Wii console and digital TV. The console was purchased with a generous donation from John Knappman of Epping Council. Among the first guests to have a go on the Wii were Andrew Woods and Janet White.

++Little Britten

Vitalise Jubilee Lodge joined the Chigwellians Choral Society to put on a carol concert in December at St Mary’s Church Chigwell, featuring soloist and BBC personality Lindsay Benson, accompanied by Rachel Bartel on the harpsichord. The Choir performed traditional carols as well as Benjamin Britten’s little known A Ceremony of Carols. Mulled wine and mince pies wrapped up a memorable evening.

++New Experience Break

New to our range of Experience Breaks for 2009 is Horticulture and Gardens Week, which will visit the historic gardens of the Southeast. Look out for the new destinations on our ever-popular London Sightseeing Weeks too!

++Antiques Roadshow

Andy McConnell of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow was guest of honour at a dinner organised by the Friends of Jubilee Lodge in Chigwell in November. Andy valued antique glassware and entertained diners with behind the scenes anecdotes about the long-running show, helping the evening raise an amazing £1,600 for the Centre.

++Christmas Fair

Shoppers descended on the array of clothes, accessories and furnishings on offer at Jubilee Lodge’s Christmas Fair at the Memorial Hall in South Woodford in November, raising £1,200 for the Centre. Special thanks go to fundraising volunteers Jessica Lamb and Natasha Pearce, whose efforts helped make the Fair such a success.
