The total German market is operated by both Vodafone and T-Mobile with just over 24%
share each. However T-mobile leads Vodafone in the smartphone user market with 30.1%
share to Vodafones 26.1%. In the past, T-Mobile have distributed a number of Blackberry
models and have recently begun the distribution of Google’s G1 Android phone.

Orange has the majority market share of the French mobile user market (41.8%). It
is followed by SFR with 30.7%. Both of these operators have a higher share of the
smartphone user market (43.6% for Orange and 37.8% for SFR). Orange gains through
the distribution of a number of Palm and Blackberry handsets while SFR have also had a
hand in the distribution of Blackberrys, most recently the Blackberry Storm.
