Examining the handset share by country we see a number of regional variances. Nokia is
prevalent in most of the EU countries with an overall EU consolidation of 37.7%. However
in the US, Motorola is the market leader with 30.2% share followed by LG (19.4%) and
Samsung (18.3%). Examples of manufacturers with same targeted regional share are
Siemens in Germany with 7.6% share and Sagem in France (13.5%) It is important to be
aware about the use of different handsets within target markets when sourcing mobile
technology solutions for that market due to functionality, interface, etc.
